Figure-Ground Relationship

This is an example of figure ground because if you focus on the individual forms you see a clear image against a white or black background depending on which one you focus on.

Gestalt

Similarity is when objects appear to look similar will be grouped by color, shape, size, and texture. The photo below shows similarity because all of the squares are the same shape and size. Even the faces have the same shape.

Asymmetrical Balance

This photo shows asymmetrical balance because the smaller "watch tower" on the left is balanced by the larger lighthouse on the right.

Perspective

This is an example of one point perspective because from where I am standing the street and the tree line appear to be converging in the distance.

Sign

This is an example of an Indexical sign because an engagement ring on the ring finger of the left hand represents love and marriage

Apparent Movement

This is an example of apparent movement because in the photo we appear stationary but we are actually moving.  The hair is flowing backwards and we are kicking up snow.

Lighting

This is an example of chiaroscuro lighting because of the strong lighting of the vas and the dark shadows casted in the background.

Warm Colors

These objects are examples of warm colors because the red and orange color.  Both colors are bold and stand out and catch your eye when around lighter colors.

Cool Colors

This is an example of cool colors because of the green and blue objects.  I feel like the objects are cheerful and calming because these types of colors remind me of spring and warmer weather.

Code

This photo is an example of analogic code because you look at the two pumpkins and begin to make mental comparisons about the width or height of the pumpkins and you also compare the carvings.
